HOLY FVCK, the eighth studio album from Demi Lovato, is slated to drop on August 19th. Ahead of its release, the global music star shares “SUBSTANCE,” the second single from the project.

“SUBSTANCE” arrives weeks removed from “SKIN OF MY TEETH,” which arrived alongside the album announcement. Similar to this record, it was produced by OAK and steers into the pop-punk direction that the project helms. “We all had an incredible time working on this song and we’re so excited to make an anthem for people that struggle with addiction,” Lovato shared in regard to the song. It’s accumulated roughly 3.3 million views on YouTube and the singer also performed it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the day prior to its release.

“So I ask myself, ‘Am I the only one looking for substance?’ / God I, it only left me lonely and loveless / Don’t wanna end up in a casket, head full of maggots,” Demi Lovato sings on the course. They continue in the second verse, “Think we might be crashing / Everyone’s laughing / Time is just passing, yet nothing lasts.”
