Anne Hathaway dazzled at the SXSW premiere of her new film, The Idea of You, on Sunday (March 17). She wore a silver mini dress with geometric designs, which she paired with platform peep-toe heels and minimal jewelry. It was rather simple, but the actress managed to pull it off and look stunning and chic at the same time. She also let her hair down with effortless waves that framed her face and styled her signature bangs to complete the look.
The Idea of You is a romantic story about a 40-year-old single mother who falls in love with a famous 24-year-old band member. It tackles problems the pair encountered while dating, with the guy — played by Nicholas Galitzine — under the watchful eyes of the public. The film was based on a book by Robinne Lee, published with the same title, that was released in 2017.
“I never thought of the movie as being about anything other than a woman’s sexual awakening. I always thought about it as being what it takes to define happiness for yourself and what it means to kind of step boldly into love after having your heart broken,” Hathaway said in an interview on the red carpet.
The Oscar awardee even got emotional while talking to the fans who showed up at the premiere. Hathaway expressed appreciation for the audience’s responsiveness to her latest film. She explained how she wanted to do the project because it was fun and a great part.
“For some reason, we talk about coming-of-age stories as being something that happens to you at the earliest part of your life. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I keep blooming,” Hathaway said as she stood on stage beside Galitzine.
There had been speculations that the story was inspired by Harry Styles, although there had been no confirmation from the author. However, Galitzine answered the question in an interview with Variety. “It’s funny because it’s not a comparison that I’ve ever made, but people really like to make it,” he explained. “Hayes Campbell is the man I’m playing. He’s a very different character as well, so we want him to exist in his own world.”
Just recently, Hathaway attended the Independent Spirit Awards 2024, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Performace. Even though she didn’t win, she still commanded attention because of her sparkly silver pantsuit that she accessorized with a few rings and a silver bracelet.
