Kim Kardashian unsurprisingly surprised everyone, like she does each time she attends the Met Gala. On Monday (May 6), she walked the red carpet in a Maison Margiela Gown by John Galliano. It featured a silver corset rewoven from antique brocade that cinched at the waist. To go with the “Sleeping Beauties: The Garden of Time” theme, her floor-sweeping skirt had leaves, flowers, and lace details connected by a silver chain.
According to a press release, the skirt had crystal pendants, pearls, and floral motifs cut from mirror fragments. Given that the look was already high jewelry, it’s understandable why Kardashian’s accessories were minimal. She was only wearing a diamond ring the night of the event.
The SKIMS co-founder took to Instagram and shared the iconic look with her 363 million followers. Even her sister Khloe Kardashian couldn’t help but gush over the metallic ensemble, saying, “I am not well.”
However, many people have noticed Kardashian’s tiny waist, which was emphasized by her tight corset at the event. One comment from a fan read, “Girl… slay, but where did you put all your internal organs?” She wasn’t the only one who thought about it because the remark gained over three thousand likes three hours after posting.
The internet was also divided over whether or not they love the cashmere sweater around Kardashian’s shoulders. Based on the photos she uploaded, it was part of her look and not a wardrobe malfunction issue. “This is like the wildest night of my life in a garden. I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend’s sweater, and threw it on and had to get to work,” she said in an interview with Vogue.
It was the 43-year-old’s 11th Met Gala and the first time she attended in a Maison Margiela couture. Just early this year, Kardashian participated in the brand’s show with her mother, Kris, and sister, Kylie Jenner.
