Compton rapper YG is back with his new single and video “Scared Money” featuring J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo. The song was teased earlier this week, and as the title hints, the braggadocious record finds the three rap stars speaking on the risk they took to get where they’re at while flaunting the luxuries of such lifestyles.
YG opens up in the first verse with a few lines about his wealth, making references to Kid Cudi and Kanye West when it comes to fashion and sneakers. J. Cole comes through on the second verse, nodding towards his basketball career with mentions of Sports Center and NBA All-Star Luka Don?i?. Elsewhere, Cole likens himself to Drake, rapping “Cole think he Drizzy Drake, he got his own plane / Flew it all around the world, and now I’m back, bitch.” Moneybagg Yo closes the song with a few slick references to NBA player Zion Williamson and more.
“Scared Money” is YG’s first song as the lead artist in a bit over a few months. Back in October, he dropped his low-rider-filled visual effort for “Sign Language.” Both songs are slated to appear on the rapper’s sixth studio album, which will be a follow-up to 2020’s My Life 4Hunnid. More music to come from the Compton rap star soon.
