Today, Tate McRae releases her new single and its accompanying video “chaotic.” Produced by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia), the singer shared that this is “the saddest song” on her forthcoming studio album slated to drop in the coming months.

“I have this paralyzing fear that I’ll maybe go nowhere / But God forbid me ever admitting I could be scared,” she sings in the opening verse. Later, on the chorus, McRae sings, “A foot on the break ’cause it’s been making me carsick / How could you blame me? Growing up is chaotic.”

Earlier this month, McRae announced that her debut album—rumored to be titled go away—is finally complete via Twitter. It will include previously released songs “feel like shit” and “she’s all i wanna be,” both of which have collectively amassed over twenty million YouTube views to date. It’ll serve as her first full-length release since 2021’s TOO YOUNG TO BE SAD, which propelled hit songs like “you broke me first” and “slower” into popularity.

“chaotic” is just a glimpse of what Tate McRae has in store for album, and so far, it’s sounding like some of her strongest work to date. Watch the video below.
