Chicago rapper Vic Mensa reflects on his relationship and the legacy of Virgil Abloh in his latest single “What You Taught Us.” The song, which clocks in just over two minutes, finds the musician giving his flower to someone who left a massive impact on young Black designers through multiple ventures across fashion and music.

“Virgil Abloh is synonymous with visionary. To see him go from DJing Superfun parties in Chicago that Hollywood Holt would sneak me in when I was 16 to revolutionizing the way we think about design and its applications is a true inspiration to a generation that was blessed to be raised under his tutelage,” Vic shared. “Legends never die.”
