Legendary emcee Trina and Atlanta rap phenomenon Latto reunite once more for their latest joint effort “Clap.” The record sees the pair collaborating for the first time since 2019’s “Bitch From Da Souf (Remix),” which appeared on her debut album Queen of Da Souf.
“Brought him to the crib ’cause the strip ran out of ones (Ayy) / If they bringin’ money up, you know I got a ton,” Trina raps on the opening verse. Later, Latto comes through with surefire bars, “I need to see a check if you wanna see it clap (Clap) / Fuck me on a jet, I ain’t fuckin’ in no trap.” Produced by Honorable C-Note and Hitmaka, the song enlists the help of GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter and musician Derrick Milano.
Recently, the Atlanta native released her critically-acclaimed sophomore album 777, which boasts features from Lil Durk, Childish Gambino, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, and more. A big teaser ahead of the album was the “Big Energy” remix, which was released the following week featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. Now, RIAA-certified Gold, the song reached Top 5 at Pop and #1 at both Urban and Rhythm. Trina, on the other hand, has kept a relatively low profile musically. Last year, she did a handful of features, appearing on songs with LightSkinKeisha, Jhonni Blaze, and more.
