Today, Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo unveils her latest single, “True Romance.” Her second official release of the year, the record is joined by an accompanying music video.
In the song’s opening verse, she sings, “I walk in a vision in red / Your favorite movie playing on my silhouette / You turn to me just for a minute / Do you know my real secrets.” Elsewhere, in the chorus, Tove graces us with her vocal prowess, singing “Til the bitter end, we said / ‘Take a life for me,’ you know I’d do it instantly / In danger over true romance / We are meant to be, I’d die for love and loyalty.”
“True Romance” arrives months removed from the release of January’s “No One Dies From Love.” Produced by beatmaker and frequent collaborator A Strut, the video has amassed 70 thousand views on YouTube since its release. Very similar to her latest offering, the song serves as “Scene 1” to a greater project, which seemingly signals the forthcoming announcement of Tove’s fifth studio album, slated to release later this year.
Prior to “True Romance” and “No One Dies From Love,” Tove Lo also appeared on the soundtrack for cult favorite HBO series Euphoria, sharing her ballad “How Long.” The record appeared in episode four of season two, dubbed “You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can” where the singer croons about discovering that their partner has been cheating on them, which fans of the show recognize is a nod to the relationship between characters Maddy and Nate.
