Chicago rapper Vic Mensa surprises his fans with the release of his latest EP, Vino Valentino. Clocking in at 11 minutes, the project is comprised of four songs with features from Malik Yusef, Peter CottonTale, Do Or Die, and fellow Roc Nation signee DIXSON.
Fitting of the release name, Vino Valentino brings forth a more melodic side of Mensa. Songs like “D’ussé Tears,” and “Can I Call U Baby” find the artist in his singing pocket, which we’ve only heard ever so often in his more recent material. Elsewhere, the Do Or Die-assisted track “Alone Wit U” boasts a slight bit of rap which makes up only a small portion of the record. It’s a refreshing switch-up that arrives months removed from Vic Mensa’s Virgil Abloh tribute “What You Taught Us” and March EP I Tape which dropped back in 2021.
Although this year started off a bit turbulent for the Chicago native, we’re hoping that he continues to release music that touches the fans. Listen to Vino Valentino below.
