Singer-songwriter Sophia Alexa returns today with her new dreamy pop ballad, “Hit and Run.” Directed by Matthew Sterling, the record see the London-based artist using music as a vehicle for artistic expression to depict her skepticisms of relationships and the emotions enveloped within them.
“I wrote ‘Hit and Run’ after I noticed myself feeling the need to escape every time I got too close to someone. I was afraid of feeling trapped or attached even if the relationship was positive,” Sophia shares on the song. “The escape felt like a defense mechanism and writing this song was a way to summarise that feeling. In the process of writing it, I wasn’t sure if the title was too dark so contrasting it with more uptempo drums was a great way to hide the reality of the lyrics.”
“Hit and Run” is Sophia Alexa’s second release of the year, arriving weeks removed from January’s “Kids.” Prior to that, the songstress unveiled her well-received debut single “House of Cards,” which was released towards the end of last year. As her fanbase continues to grow, so does her artistry and knack for creating irresistible melodies. Watch “Hit and Run” below.
