This year’s artist to watch SixSaidIt is back, and she’s not afraid to take a stand. “Choosey,” the rapper’s new Afropop-infused hit, is out now on all streaming platforms.
“‘Choosey’ is a song that speaks to everyone’s universal need–options! It’s heavily inspired by Petey Pablo’s ‘Freek-a-Leek’ but with a UK AfroBop twist full of different pop culture references from the UK, America, and Nigeria,” the musician shares. In regard to her upcoming album, she adds, “Outside II is a sequel to my first EP Outside where I introduced listeners to different sounds influenced by my hometowns. While Outside was an introduction to Six as an artist that likes to explore, Outside II solidifies my stance as a genre flexible rapper that is unafraid to push the boundaries of hip-hop.”
The Los Angeles-based, genre-bending artist is preparing to release her new album, Outside II, this fall. It’ll feature the previously released songs “Little Bit” and “Lagos is Burning (Mirror Mirror)” and serves as a follow-up to Six’s first EP, Outside, released in 2020. As a result of Six’s approach to hip-hop, she has gained a varied fanbase by enticing listeners in with what seems to be familiar and then catching them with the discovery of sub-genres they may have never been exposed to before.
