The Nike Dunk’s resurgence cannot be overestimated. While the latest drops are getting a lot of attention, we’d be negligent if we didn’t mention some of the more obscure Dunks that have been forgotten.
The Simpsons Dunks are one of Nike SB’s most popular and well-remembered sequences, and with Lisa and Maggie yet to get their own iterations, the possibilities of this series continuing are only going to rise. Here is a look at some of the silhouettes’ previous and upcoming iterations.
Nike SB Dunk Low Homer Simpson
Because the shoe’s hue is identical to the one that Homer has worn for the last twenty-five years without variation, it is widely referred to as the “Homer” SB Dunk Low. As with a select few other SB Dunks from that period, this silver-box Nike SB Dunk release made its way to retailers’ shelves in 2004.
White, yellow, and blue are the colors of choice for this character’s outfit. To match Homer Simpson’s skin tone and attire, the sneaker boasts university blue suede overlays on the top and yellow Swooshes on the outsole of the shoe. The design is brought to a close with a black midsole that lays atop a gum rubber outsole.
Nike SB Dunk High Marge Simpson
The Nike SB Dunk High “Marge Simpson” was a follow-up to the “Homer” Dunk Low in the Simpsons series. With a yellow leather base and blue suede overlays, these standout Dunk High serve as a respective nod to the iconic character and mother to Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The sneaker’s Swooshes have green details to mirror her dress, while the gum rubber outsole completes the design.
Nike SB Dunk Low Bart Simpson
A new SB Dunk Low, inspired after the Simpson family’s oldest son and cheeky hell-raiser, is being released by Nike soon. However, it’s also evident that Bart has the most crystal-cut connection to the sneaker based on his own fascination with skating, and he joins his father Homer and mother Marge.
Nike’s decision to outfit the sneakers after the character’s distinctive attire is reflected in the shoes’ design. Bart’s feet are shown by the white Swoosh on the soles and socks of the upper, while the colors of the top match the character’s skin tone and clothing. It’s a homage to his way of transportation with the bright green insole.
Nike Dunk Low Next Nature Homer
The Nike Dunk Low “Homer Simpson” is scheduled to drop as a kids-only, Next Nature release later this year. The white base, blue overlays, and yellow brand logos of the new Lows bear an eerie similarity to the aforementioned SB Lows from 2004. The smooth leather upper is contrasted with a mesh collar and tongue, before the grittier white and grey sole sections are placed underfoot. A set of thick laces completes the look, maybe as an homage to the SB Dunk.
The Nike Dunk Low “Homer Simpson” has yet to see a release date, although it is anticipated to arrive later this year as part of the brand’s 2022 lineup.
