Selena Gomez Single Soon Video Makeup Look

The much-anticipated return of Selena Gomez to the music scene is marked by her latest hit, “Single Soon.” More than just an aural delight, the music video is a visual feast, especially when it comes to Gomez’s beauty look. Makeup artist Melissa Murdick, the creative genius behind the look, provided an in-depth description of how she achieved it.

Murdick said on TikTok, “It was supposed to be really sexy, but fun and lighthearted.” She also detailed her choices: “I did more of a strong eye that has purple tones to it. I did a pink glossy lip, and a bronze glowy cheek.”

Focusing on the Eyes

Murdick began the transformation with the Brow Harmony Precision Pencil ($19) in Rich Taupe and Cool Brown shades, bringing shape and dimension to Gomez’s brows. This set the stage for a captivating eye makeup look that used the Magnetic Spirit Eyeshadow Palette ($25). She applied the palette’s lightest hue from the lid to the browbone, making a radiant foundation. Then, Murdick added drama by using the palette’s maroon shade, blending it into the crease to form the beginnings of a cat eye.

To intensify the eyes, Murdick turned to the new Perfect Strokes Longwear Gel Eyeliner in True Black ($19). She explained, “I use [the liner] to fully and really darkly line the entire waterline of the eye.” According to Murdick, she then targeted the outer corners of both the upper and lower lash lines, laying down a smidge of liner to enhance the eye shape further.

Adding Depth and Drama

A deep purple shadow from the Magnetic Spirit Eyeshadow Palette was then used to add a smoky dimension. “The darkest part of the eye is going to be the liner with this smoked-out purple,” said Murdick. She also emphasized that she flicks the shadow towards the temple to achieve the cat-eye look.

For cleaning up and fine-tuning, Murdick chose the Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer ($22). She also stressed the importance of the Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara ($20). “With this look, it’s important to go really heavy on the mascara,” she noted.

Achieving a Radiant Glow

When it came to Gomez’s radiant complexion, Murdick mixed the Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick in Happy Sol ($26) with the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer in Mesmerized ($25). She also mentioned using the Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter in Mesmerized ($25) “to really drive home that glow.” The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Hope ($23) was applied for a touch of color.

Final Touches

Murdick outlined Gomez’s lips with the Kind Words Matte Lip Liner in Worthy ($15). She then added a light layer of With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in Empathy ($16). “To keep the color sheer and soft, you can pat it on with a finger or just put it on top of your lip balm,” Murdick explained.

The overall impact is a sublime blend of sultriness and playfulness, tying in perfectly with the narrative of “Single Soon.” Murdick’s artistry, using Rare Beauty products, not only showcased Gomez as an awe-inspiring performer but also as a beauty icon in her own right. A final misting of Always An Optimist 4-in-1 Mist ($27) sealed this stunning look, making it one for the books.
