Nashville-based singer-songwriter Sarah Cothran has finally released her much-anticipated debut track “Baby Why.”
The song’s powerful refrain, emphasized by her wide vocal range, evokes a flashback to a more innocent time. It’s particularly impressive because she co-produced the song, a talent she learned at a young age on her own. “It was very important for me to learn how to produce my own music so I can be as creative and true to myself as I want,” the musician shares. “There also aren’t a lot of female producers and I really want to help change and level out the huge gap there.”
Matt Maltese’s “As the World Caves In” was the first song to bring Cothran to the forefront of social media. Her rendition has now racked up around 380 million total worldwide streams with 175 million Spotify streams alone, bringing her close to half a billion total streams. She’s endeared herself to a social media following of millions by wearing her emotions on her sleeve.
With “Baby Why,” she has opened up more than ever before. Sarah Cothran is only getting started, and we can expect a lot more from her in the future. Listen to the song below.
