Nashville-based singer-songwriter Sarah Cothran releases her second single, “Funeral,” after the overwhelming reception she received for her debut record, “Baby Why.”
“’Funeral’ is a really special song for me. The entire song is a metaphor for losing yourself and mourning the old you,” Sarah shares regarding the record. The musician continues, “In life, we change so much with time, relationships, and experiences that you can sometimes feel lost along the way. This song is about reflecting on that different version of yourself and feeling all of those mixed emotions.”
In “Funeral,” Cothran teams up with Matt Maltese, the singer responsible for “As The World Caves In,” the cover song that initially won over listeners to her. The two of them collaborated on the song, which is about the experience of letting someone else completely take over your life as Sarah explains. “Funeral” serves as the predecessor to her upcoming tour run with Alec Benjamin, slated to kick off in the Fall.
