As she prepares for her eagerly-awaited debut album titled dear amelia, renforshort graces fans with the release of her latest single “Julian, king of manhattan.” The record serves as an ode to Julian Casablancas, the lead singer of the iconic NYC-based band, The Strokes.
“It’s one of my favourite songs ever. When I wrote it, Jeff Hazin and I were only really listening to The Strokes and when we got into this session, I said I want to write a song for Julian Casablancas, cause I love him. The song could’ve gone a lot of ways but making it about being friends with him in a fantasy world,” renforshort says. “Sonically we were inspired by The Strokes to really pay homage to them –through the tone of the guitars and the effect on the vocals, I feel like we kinda achieved that!”
“Julian, king of manhattan” follows the singer’s Travis Barker-assisted single “we’ll make this ok,” released back in May. Previously she shared records such as “moshpit” and “made for you,” which will also appear on the forthcoming album. dear amelia will be comprised of 12 songs and in addition to Travis Barker, will feature Jake Bugg. Meanwhile, production comes from the likes of Alexander 23, AFTERHRS, David Pramik, and aldn to name a few.
