After making her artist debut back in June, Reneé Rapp returns with her eager-awaited sophomore effort “In The Kitchen.” The record is joined by an accompanying visual.
“When I walk in the kitchen, my heart hits the floor / ‘Cause it’s you that I’m missin’, I still see a vision of us cookin’ dinner / And you holding me from behind,” she sings in the opening verse. Meanwhile, on the latter, she continues: “The couch that we sat on back in New York / Has made it’s way, three thousand miles to LA / And these pillows been talkin’ / Askin’ me where the hell you’ve been.”
“In The Kitchen” serves as a follow-up to “Tattoos,” which was teased on TikTok in the weeks leading up to its release. The song is a stripped-back piano ballad that finds Rapp detailing the emotional rollercoaster of new love as she opens up about her hopes and fears for the future. Subsequently, it accumulated 300K views on YouTube in the following weeks.
Outside of music, she can be seen starring as Leighton in the HBO Max original series from Mindy Kaling entitled The Sex Lives of College Girls, which has been confirmed to return for a second season. The show premiered its 10-episode season one back in November of 2021 with a successor slated to come out towards the tail-end of this year or in 2023. Co-star Alyah Chanelle Scott has also been working with Reneé Rapp closely in terms of her music career.
Eager to continue to share her emotions with the world, Reneé has much more music on the way under her recent signing to Interscope Records. Listen to “In The Kitchen” below.
