With R&B in the midst of a resurgence, there are a plethora of genuinely talented artists redefining the boundaries of the genre while building an Internet-based community of fans and fellow musicians in the process. Insert Reggie Becton—the PG County native is turning some of his deeply personal experiences from childhood to adulthood into therapeutic ballads.

Inspired by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Prince, and Brandy to mention a few, Reggie Becton has been making music for quite some time now. Several years ago, he packed his things and moved to the West Coast to pursue a career as a full-time artist. Despite some of the roadblocks along the way, especially as an independent artist, he’s managed to come out on top without any major backing but rather a loyal fanbase and good vibes.

One of his biggest records to date is the 2019 release of “Rainin’ In LA.” The record, which appears on his freshman EP My Beanie’s Orange, finds the Maryland crooner reflecting on his experience of love at first sight for the first time. The soulful tune is amongst his first taste—but certainly not the last—of commercial success with over half a million plays on Spotify. It laid the groundwork for others to follow, including “Listenin'” off of his 2020 EP, Thank You For Listenin’. Undeniably, Reggie has shown that he can make personal music for a universal audience, intimate songs which somehow manage to speak what the listener feels but cannot quite put into words.

In 2021, Reggie Becton graced fans alike with the release of his eagerly-awaited debut album, California. An admirably well-curated project, the twelve-song offering documents the journey of one of R&B’s best-kept secret. Becton calls on fellow musicians Chris Patrick, Ye Ali, and Ryahn to name a few with pre-release singles like “RM. 143” and “Issues” being a driving force for the full-length release. From the production to song sequence, the project is filled with substance, subsequently filling a void in today’s occasionally lackluster music. It’s a project that quite frankly, left us excited about what’s to come next.

Fast forward to now, Reggie Becton is mapping out the next phase of his career amid live performances and enjoying the fruits of his labor. We’re extremely excited to see where he goes sonically in regards to new music given his ability to blend different genres. Stream Becton’s discography below.
