On Friday, Baltimore native and producer-turned-rapper Pyrex (Whippa) released his latest single, “Surgery.” The track arrives five months after he dropped his debut EP, Blood on the Hills.
With the somber record, Pyrex tells a tale of pain, heartbreak, and loss, and he details how he uses sex and drugs as a coping mechanism. The song emphasizes his ability to deliver emotional and resonating lyrics as he effortlessly floats over its subtle production, which is courtesy of 187 Sco and David Morse.
“Surgery” is Pyrex’s first release since he suffered temporary memory loss from dissociative amnesia in late December. It’s great to see him back in his true element and making great music again. Check out the new single below.
