Electronic-pop trio Not The Main Characters unveil their latest musical offering “bad things” ahead of their forthcoming debut EP, due May 20th. Opening with their own cleverly distorted version of The Powerpuff Girls introduction, the trio put their unique personalities on display over the glitchy and catchy tune produced by Jahs.
In regards to the new song, Not The Main Characters share, “The opening track of our EP, ‘bad things,’ is the song where we get to introduce ourselves as individuals. The three of us have very distinct personalities and want that to come across in our music. Starting out with our own take on the spoken Powerpuff intro, we invite listeners to take part in the dichotomy of being a baddie but also low key a mess.”
“bad things” arrives on the heels of their March release “lava,” blurring the lines between an upbeat dance track and unnerving social commentary. Prior to that, they released “8ball,” another surefire song that gives the listener a feeling of being surrounded by friends at a raucous party. All three songs are slated to appear on Bad Things Come In 3’s this coming month on May 20th.
They add, “The three of us truly do embody chaos, vices, and many existential crises, so it made sense to have those be the ingredients in our metaphorical Powerpuff style birth, as well as the fact that those are the overarching topics of the EP. Being able to write about concepts like these in our biting-yet-lighthearted way is the reason we started NTMC in the first place, and we feel that this song demonstrates us coming into our own as artists.”
