Brendan Dunne teased the return of the Nike Air Foamposite One “Metallic Red” to in Summer 2023, and we couldn’t be any more excited to get our hands on a pair upon launch.
These launched in 2017 in the vibrant “Metallic Red” colorway that revitalized Nike’s Foamposite franchise. Given that sneakerheads had grown weary of the Nike Foamposite’s all-over-print makeovers in the second part of the decade, this release marked a return to form for the silhouette.
The original “Royal” design debuted in 1997, and its revival in 2018 was infused with a glimmering ruby-colored outfit, no profile swooshes, and strong black contrast. The “Metallic Red” Foam, which was not an original model, was instantly labeled a classic for its understated good looks, which bodes well for its anticipated success when it is released again in the summer of 2023.
Nike will be releasing the Air Foamposite One “Metallic Red” in the summer of 2023 through select retailers and on Nike’s website. As the 2017 edition costs $230 at retail, we anticipate that they will be priced similarly, if not somewhat higher.
