Anne-Marie and Latto Join NEIKED For “I Just Called”

Today, Swedish pop producer NEIKED, Atlanta rapper Latto, and British singer-songwriter Anne-Marie release their first-ever collaborative song “I Just Called.” The song, teased back in April via TikTok, samples Stevie Wonder’s 1984 smash hit “I Just Called to Say I Love You.”

“Now I’m getting really brave, I’ve had a few shots / I would say it to your face, but I just can’t no more,” Anne-Marie sings in the opening verse of the song. Latto comes through on the second verse, rapping, “Played the latto and lost it / I got options like my closet / I don’t double back / I wear it once then I’m done with that.”

“I Just Called” serves as Anne-Marie’s first official release of the year, followed by her collaborative effort with Little Mix on “Kiss My (Uh Oh),” which received an array of remixes in the following months. She also contributed to CL’s “Lover Like Me” and K-Pop group TWICE’s “SCIENTIST.” Meanwhile, NEIKED collaborated with Mae Muller and J Balvin for their Polo G-assisted track “Better Days” back in September. The video has since amassed a whopping 18 million views on YouTube and over half a million global streams.

Latto, on the other hand, has been having a phenomenal run this past year. She released her sophomore album 777, which notably featured musicians like Lil Durk, Kodak Black, Lil Wayne, and Childish Gambino among others. The week following her project, she also unveiled her eagerly-awaited “Big Energy” remix with Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. Straying a bit far from the rapper’s established sound, the song has undoubtedly risen as one of her most popular works to date by climbing Urban Radio, garnering over 100 million streams on Spotify, and landing her yet another RIAA-certified Platinum plaque as of earlier this month.
