Recently launched Black-owned skincare brand Namesake Skincare made its debut in the beauty industry in February. The dermatologist-backed brand was designed to celebrate and enhance the inherent beauty of all skin types. Skincare products, family rituals, and expert knowledge are the foundation of this company, which was started by dermatologist Davlyn Mosely and her mother, dermatologist Dr. Lynn McKinley-Grant.
The Daily Moisturizer combines exfoliation and hydration in a single product, helping to brighten, plump, and level skin tone. The lotion contains potent, dermatologist-approved chemicals that have been extensively evaluated and proven safe. Serving as the label’s debut product, massage a pea-sized scoop onto clean, dry skin on the face and neck after cleansing in the AM and PM.
Key ingredients include polyhydroxy acids, which are used to gently remove dead skin cells, and rosehip oil, which is rich in vital fatty acids and antioxidants, which are needed for tissue and cell regeneration. Meanwhile, components like butterfly bush plant stem cells promote an equal skin tone and reinforce the barrier of the skin.
“I started Namesake to showcase the uniqueness of melanated skin and to create trustworthy, effective skincare essentials that tackle issues that are most common in skin of color,” Mosely shared in a press statement. “Namesake is inspired by my mom who is an aboard-certified dermatologist and the expert behind our formulas.”
The moisturizer can be found on the web store for Namesake Skincare. It currently retails at $60 USD.
