mxmtoon’s second studio album, rising, is finally here. The project was first announced earlier this year after the rollout of her second offering and its accompanying music video. Since then, she’s shared four promotional singles for the album: “mona lisa,” “sad disco,” “victim of nostalgia,” and more recently “coming of age.”
The album follows the musician’s two-part EP installment dawn and dusk, both of which were released in 2020 with their respective themes and aesthetics. The former boasts songs like “quiet moon” and “fever dream,” amassing over 1.5 million views on YouTube. Meanwhile, the latter gained attention for tracks such as “bon river” and the Carly Rae Jepson-assisted cut “ok on your own.” Prior to that, mxmtoon released her debut album the masquerade in 2019.
Currently, the indie pop star is on tour in promotion of the project alongside supporting act Chloe Moriondo. It kicked off in Montreal and Toronto at the beginning of May with stops across Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, and more. It’ll come to a close on June 10th in Boston at the Royale—see tour dates and purchase tickets here.
