With its Fall/Winter 2022 collection, Miaou continues its tradition of delivering a selection of clothes with a strong sexual undertone.
The forthcoming drop, which takes its cue from Parisian sex shops, will include flirtatious lace-up dresses, as well as tops and corsets made entirely of latex. For the colder months, snakeskin bustier mini shifts give the ideal amount of texture and depth, while bold red latex tanks provide a hefty amount of grit. Aside from the motorcycle jackets, the collection is anchored by knit sweaters cut in a V to emphasize the body. The soft fabric is also transformed into halter neck shirts, providing a new spin on stuffy academics.
Miaou’s cult-favorite designs from seasons past are reimagined for FW22 with a fresh take on the label’s signature style. The much-loved Leia corset and the much-beloved Jinx top are both brought back in latex, and the Imogene corset is now available as a lace-up dress. Speaking on new design elements, Miaou Creative Director Alexia Elkaim shared, “I think a big part of Miaou’s ethos is synergizing old and new world. Corsets have been around for ages, but I can’t just make a corset; I need to think about how I can make it wearable, contemporary, and modern.”
Meanwhile, the new “Missed Connection” print campaign combines vintage newspaper ads with modern-day internet screenshots. The design highlights a major tenet of Miaou, which is to combine the old with the modern to produce contemporary works that are distinctly nostalgic.
