To no one’s surprise, Megan Thee Stallion is a huge fan of Japanese animation and TV/movies. Megan performed several of her classics, including some from her most recent album, Traumazine, this past weekend at the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo while costumed as Sailor Moon.
Putting a sexier take on the traditional Sailor Scout uniform, Hot Girl Meg was joined by her set performers outfitted in similar looks. Megan flaunted her outfit, which included a bright red bow and a blue miniskirt, in pictures on Instagram and Twitter. The rapper’s sailor bits were fastened to a white bodysuit with a tie-up back. She completed her outfit with a pair of white knee-high boots.
Megan styled her bob-length hair into two space buns for the Sailor Moon-inspired look. She wore her hair in an outstanding zigzag part, with a few strands of curls left out to frame her face. Although she preserved her glowing fingernails, she also wore fake lashes and a stunning wing of neutral-colored eye shadow.
It’s well known that Meg has a soft spot for anime. She has made no secret of the fact that she has a penchant for things traditionally considered “nerdy” from the very beginning of her career. Her devotion to anime has been a constant element in her online presence given that the rapper participated in cosplays and even introduced nail art based on characters from anime. She often discusses anime and manga in interviews, even going so far as to label Inuyasha’s title character her “first anime infatuation” in an interview with Crunchyroll’s Tim Lyu earlier in 2020.
