Revolutionizing the lingerie landscape with a blend of comfort, style, and authenticity, Lyzawear is challenging conventional ideas of what intimates should be. Born out of the vision of Ukrainian founder and former model Lyza, the brand is all about liberating women from the constraints of stereotypical lingerie norms.

A veteran of the modeling industry, Lyza recognized the limitations of conventional lingerie categories, and with a vision for a better future, Lyzawear was born. No stranger to the demands of modern womanhood—juggling careers, relationships, and personal interests—she was driven to design a range that understands and accommodates these needs. The journey began with a pattern, carefully crafted to provide a natural push-up effect without the discomfort of wires or foam.

The label’s debut collection is comprised of five styles created to empower the wearer with unique silhouettes and wire-free designs. Adding a touch of Lyza’s personal flair, each bra boasts a unique piercing detail, enhancing the structure while adding a sexy edge. The Casja Bra provides a natural push-up effect with a double-layered shape that pairs perfectly with the matching high-waisted thong. Elsewhere in the range, the Pia Bralette has a piercing that connects the two cups, creating a deep plunge while adjustable straps create the perfect fit.

We recently sat down with Lyza to get to know her brand better and talk about her sources of inspiration, experience in the lingerie industry, and advice for women seeking confidence. Scroll down for an interview with the designer, and shop the label’s debut collection via the Lyzawear website.

It’s so wonderful to have you with us today. First of all, I’d like to know what inspired you to start Lyzawear and how your background in the modeling industry influenced your decision to create a new kind of lingerie?

Well, I had been working as a model for quite some years, and a large part of my career was spent modeling lingerie. I had a vast array of lingerie styles at home, perhaps 50-60 sets. I found lingerie to be beautiful, fun, and sexy. Having been surrounded by it so much, I realized that I keep wearing only two sets on a daily basis.

The lingerie industry mainly differentiates by two styles – super sexy or too sporty. I thought, surely there could be something that’s both sexy and comfortable, but couldn’t find it, so I had to create it myself. It also was a pivotal time in my life when I was looking for a change and I felt an urge to be a creator myself. I had these lingerie designs in my mind, desperately needing to be translated onto paper. Alongside my creative drive, I also had an ambition  to embark on the entrepreneurial path, to build and nurture a brand entirely my own.

You mentioned that the journey started with creating a new pattern from scratch. Can you tell us more about this process and what led you to design a bra without wires or foam?

Designing the pattern is the basics to any clothing item. Wires and foam typically provide support, making it an essential function of a bra. However, bras including these elements often entail discomfort, such as pain caused by metal wires and decreased blood circulation, whereas those lacking such features may lack adequate support.

So, the challenge was to provide lift and support without wires or foam. We accomplished this by using thick elastic as the structural basis, placed fabric in a way to make it less stretchy and reinforced the design with the addition of the piercing. The process from creating the initial pattern to producing the first sample spanned over the three months, during which each style underwent meticulous wear and tear testing by me, seamstresses and my friends.

Once I reached the stage where I could comfortably wear the bra throughout the entire day without the sensation of wearing one, I realized that my mission had been successfully accomplished. Sustainability was also part of Lyzawear story, so I did extensive research to ensure we used eco-friendly fabric  and picked organic cotton and in the near future looking to expand into new available organic fabrics such as seaweed and ect.

Throughout the development process, you worked closely with seamstresses to perfect the designs. What were some of the challenges you faced during this process and how you ensured the final product met your high standards of comfort and style?

The seamstresses and I worked closely to ensure the final product met both comfort and style expectations. There were instances where a prototype wouldn’t work as intended — it didn’t provide enough push up, hence support, or the back stripe would ride up and cause back pain, these are actually the main concerns with the bra. Our main bench mark was how our bodies felt after wearing lingerie all day long. With every modification and adjustments aiming at comfort, we ensured we’re not missing on any details or compromise sets looks.

The piercing featured on the label’s bras adds a unique and sexy touch to the design. How did your personal love for piercings inspire this aspect of the lingerie, and how does it contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the bras?

Hah, the piercing is something I just really like and for the lingerie it does serve a dual purpose. They lend an edgy aesthetic to a cotton bra while also providing a functional aspect. By stretching the fabric, they contribute to a natural push-up effect. Additionally, piercings have been a personal style element since my teenage years when getting them done felt rebellious. This influence has remained with me and translated into my cotton lingerie designs.

Lyzawear isn’t just about bras but also offers a line of women’s cotton underwear. What was your vision for these underwear designs, and how do they complement the bra styles?

For the underwear, I aimed to use as little fabric as possible, while still offering the best and most loved styles. Each style and color are designed to be worn as a set or mix and match. I took inspiration from the world of swimwear, where mixing and matching is a common practice. The best bonus with Lyzawear is that if you get two sets, you essentially have four sets because you can mix and match them to create new looks. It influenced a lot a choice of color for each set, as i’d choose the one that could compliment each other when mixed.

Empowering women is at the heart of the brand’s mission. How do you envision your brand continuing to grow and evolve in order to support and uplift women in their daily lives?

The core idea behind the brand is to cater to the woman who leads a busy lifestyle. I envision her in her 30s or 40s, starting her day with a coffee, going out for a meeting, rushing back for a Zoom call, out for lunch, do other ten things and then having a date in the evening. The aim is to support this dynamic lifestyle, to make her feel comfortable, stylish, and ready for any occasion throughout the day without the need to change or worry about her outfit. She’s already dressed up and looking amazing for all of the day’s events.

Lastly, do you have any advice for women who want to feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin, whether it’s through their choice of lingerie or other aspects of their lives?

Above all else, I firmly believe that every woman should prioritize self-love on a daily basis. The world has undergone tremendous transformations, with women now achieving far more than ever before. With so much on our plates and boundless energy to give, it becomes essential to never forget the importance of care about your mind and body. It is crucial to remember that there are people who love and care for you.

Through my brand, my ultimate aspiration is to establish a platform, if not a full-fledged community, where we can mutually support one another. As I embark on this journey, I am grateful for the assistance I have received from others, and I am eager to extend that same support to fellow women and eventually to everyone. It is vital to remember that we are not alone in this endeavor and that there are people who are ready to stand by our side. Together, we can create a nurturing environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
