Country and soul singer Lou Ridley releases the heartfelt music video for her new protest track “Bless Your Heart” today. The song is a chillingly honest picture of the singer’s response to the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The film, directed by Bethany Reed and created completely on film, is a frank and provocative look at the private life of a hypocrite alt-right conservative politician who goes against his principles when a consequence that might wreck it all comes. The joyful pop-country song “Bless Your Heart” criticizes politicians who use holy doctrine to further their own political agendas.
“I wrote this song before the overturn. I wrote it as a southern woman whose life has been riddled with experiences of misogyny and prejudice under the guise of Christianity and God. I’m speaking directly to the cowards. In honor of not only other women but all the other lives that are threatened due to the willful ignorance of our leadership in this country,” Lou Ridley shared speaking on the song earlier this year. “My genre, and the men especially, have been alarmingly quiet about these issues… so yet again I’ll grab my nuts and walk forward.”
