Taken from the Arabic word for “melodious,” Cha:dy (pronounced sha-dee) treats fans alike to her latest single, “suffocating.” The record arrives ahead of her Wider EP, slated to drop in 2021.
On a journey for self-discovery, “suffocating” finds the London-based singer diving into topics of self-love and choosing yourself over romance. It speaks for those who have been in a bad space and jumped into a relationship thinking it would heel open wounds.
Speaking specifically on the release, Cha:dy further explains “It’s about a relationship that suffocated me when I should have focused on self-healing and finding my peace instead of being someone else. I feel like it’s a theme that’s rarely explored in love songs, as romance is often placed above everything.”
