How was it growing up in Arkansas?

It was one of those things where you had to adapt or you were just gonna get run over. You could be the nicest kid on the block and in a year or two, you could be a whole different person.

Was there a specific artist or point in time that made you fall in love with music?

Lil Wayne. I like how lyrical he was. He made you envision everything he was saying and kind of painted a picture in your head.

Coming off the success of “Too Easy” and “Work Fa My Spot,” what’s the ultimate goal with Long Story Short?

Long Story Short is like a brief message to my fans. It’s something fast and quick, you know, just because I already got a lot of bodies of work that I just need to put out. I was held back in my last situation so I’ve never really been consistent. We’re just trying to let the fans know. It’s just to let them know I’m here.

OMB Peezy makes an appearance on “Loyalty Don’t Last”—how did you guys link up?

He heard one of my songs two years ago. I’ve just been flying in and out, linking up with him. I never listened to him but he told me I sound like him.

This new joint venture with Def Jam kind of solidifies your rise to the top. How did it come into fruition?

I don’t know. They just told me I need to drop a tape and I just provided the music. I just stay in the studio. I had the EP name for four years though.

How did you celebrate?

I didn’t celebrate, I just worked. I don’t want to get too happy. I always said I’m going to celebrate when I do it. Even when I get my first plaque, I always said that I would celebrate but I probably won’t. It’s like okay, now I want four more.

That being said, what do you envision for your career?

Trying to be the best version of me. I’m trying to master myself so much. I want to learn a lot, and soak everything in. I don’t want to be here just quick, I love this.
