This past weekend, Latto released her sophomore album 777, which was met with immense support and acclaim following its release. The 13-song project was both concise and peeled back layers in her artistry with features from Lil Wayne, Nardo Wick, Childish Gambino, and Kodak Black among others. A big teaser for the album was the “Big Energy” remix, whom she announced would feature Mariah Carey over the weekend. Today, Latto’s eagerly-anticipated record with the music icon is out today.

“Big Energy (Remix)” not only is joined by Mariah Carey, but DJ Khaled also appears on the intro and closing of the track. The song itself actually flips Mariah’s 1995 song “Fantasy,” so the remix is quite fitting. “Pretty like new new, sweet like peaches / I’ma be your fantasy, you ain’t gon’ believe this / Hold up, got Mimi on the remix,” Latto raps.

The original record, which was released in September 2021, has made the artist nearly inescapable. The Tom-Tom Club-sampled “Genius of Love” single cracked top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, currently seated at #14, and is now RIAA-certified Gold. It’s also been dominating all radio platforms, reaching top 5 at Pop and #1 at both Urban and Rhythm. Furthermore, it’s safe to say that the remix will further propel the record into popularity considering the rap star’s recent success.
