Spaceships on the Blade, Larry June‘s latest album, was released over the weekend along with a music video for “Don’t Check Me,” filmed by David Camarena.
Throughout the project, June’s signature rapping style and his effortless, high-level lyricism are emphasized to indicate that he is performing at a new, peak level. June enlists Herm Lewis for another classic album introduction, whilst the rest of the album is composed of 19 more songs to G-funk-influenced rhythms with guests including Babyface Ray, 2 Chainz, Curren$y, Syd, Duckwrth, and an interlude from Wallo.
Longtime collaborator Cardo, who previously produced June’s 2021 album in its entirety, contributed to the production of Spaceships on the Blade with The Alchemist, Jake One, Turbo, Chuck Inglish, Johan Lenox, Mr. Rogers, and others. June’s Orange Print LP was released in the same year to widespread acclaim, peaking at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, going on to break the Billboard 200, and ultimately making it into NPR’s year-end list.
