Singer-songwriter Kira Kosarin shares her anxiously awaited EP, Something New, out now. The five-song project paints a portrait of the songstress’ life over the recent years, detailing personal growth, letting go of baggage, and other topics.
“This EP includes all of the growth from 22-years-old to 25-years-old, learning how to live with yourself and what habits actually work to take care of yourself long-term,” Kira shares regarding the new project. “We enter into every relationship, be it romantic or interpersonal, with so much baggage in terms of how we’ve been treated in the past and the way we’ve learned the world must work based on those experiences.”
Something New includes previously released singles “parachute (plan b),” “goodbye & thank u,” and “mood ring.” Meanwhile, new records like the title track delve into gaining trust in a new relationship while “busy” is complemented by guitar melodies and the musician’s vocal prowess. This project serves as a follow-up to her 2020 EP Songbird.
The singer expands, “It’s a story of meeting somebody where you have all of these preconceived notions of what’s going to go wrong. Your mind is changed though, because you haven’t encountered a relationship like this before. Maybe you can let your guard down and trust. It’s an ode to domesticity and those rituals that make your home a safe environment.”
