Today marks the long-awaited return of Joyce Wrice with the release of her new EP, Motive, which is equally experimental and upbeat.
Wrice’s current EP, Motive, contains her latest hit, “Iced Tea,” and sees the singer exploring new tonal territory while reconnecting with multiple GRAMMY Award winner KAYTRANADA who produced three of the EP’s five tracks. Overgrown was released last year to widespread acclaim, laying the foundation for her latest offering. Every song on the EP has Joyce’s typical sugary lyricism, and she’s asked some of the best names in R&B, like Trey Campbell, Miraa May, and Kaene, to help out.
Regarding the project, Joyce Wrice shares, “In between coming off of my debut album and brainstorming ideas for my sophomore album, I was motivated to create an EP that the world could dance to.” She continues, “This new project is experimental, fun, carefree, and sexy. After ‘Overgrown,’ I was inspired to be free-spirited and to let loose and during this process, I was consistently asking myself, ‘what’s your motive?’”
