Today, Atlanta rap phenomenon JID shares his third studio album titled The Forever Story, out today via Dreamville Records. The album’s name is a callback to the musician’s 2017 debut label project dubbed The Never Story.
Rap legends such as Yasiin Bey and Lil Wayne as well as contemporaries like 21 Savage, Lil Durk, EARTHGANG, Ari Lennox, and several more are among the many notable guests on the 16-track offering. Executive produced by longtime DJ and producer Christo, The Forever Story is JID’s third studio album and amped up to be one of his best works to date.
Last week, in anticipation of the album’s release, JID released “2007” on YouTube and social media. The song tells the story of the rapper’s ascension from his days as a college athlete to his signing with J. Cole’s Dreamville label. “2007,” which was originally the outro of The Forever Story, comes after the release of “Dance Now,” which weaves his words in and around the foreboding rhythm, prepping for many flow shifts, anthological verses, and a chorus given by Kenny Mason and Foushee. The narrative concepts of the latter are reflected in the music video, which features a wide variety of Atlanta, GA characters and locals.
