Canadian singer-songwriter Jayde lays it all out there in her new single “was it worth it,” complete with a raw vlog-style video accompaniment. The gentle alt-pop album details her previous relationship, in which her lover took advantage of her originality and sensitivity.
Regarding the song, she shares, “I was watching my whole relationship fall apart before my eyes when I wrote this. I felt like everything had been a complete lie on a personal level and that I was being exploited entirely for my creativity and desire to help this person try and hone in on their creative identity.” Meanwhile, the music video for the track is intentionally foggy, giving fans an intimate glimpse into Jayde’s world and creative process.
“was it worth it” follows a slew of other releases, namely “nevermind” and “all i wanted.” All three tracks are slated to appear on the signer’s forthcoming EP, slated to drop in the coming months.
