After the massive success of Elvis, Sofia Coppola has revealed that she will direct a second biographical film on Elvis’s wife, Priscilla Presley, starring Jacob Elordi in the movie. Production on Priscilla, directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Cailee Spaeny, will start in Toronto this autumn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Coppola will be writing and directing the film in her signature style. Cailee Spaeny will portray Priscilla, while Elordi will play Elvis. Priscilla Presley’s memoir Elvis and Me, in which she details her relationship with the late singer, will serve as the inspiration for the film. Even though she was just 14 at the time and he was 23, they began dating in 1959 and tied the knot over 10 years later. Elvis’ infidelity was well-documented, and he was linked to many famous women, including his Viva Las Vegas co-star Ann-Margret Olsson. He was also said to be quite authoritarian and prevent Priscilla from following her own goals in life.

The actor who will portray Elvis, Elordi, is most known for his part in the critically acclaimed HBO miniseries Euphoria. The Kissing Booth trilogy on Netflix and Deep Water on Hulu are just two of his many acting credits. After meeting with a number of young performers, Coppola reportedly selected Elordi for the part. For her part, Spaeny was always Coppola’s first option when casting Priscilla. As of late, you may have seen Spaeny as Eleanor Roosevelt on Showtime’s The First Lady. She has also appeared in films and television series including On the Basis of Sex and Bad Times at the El Royale, and on shows like Devs and Mare of Easttown.

The actor’s admiration for the legendary performer and celebrity dates back to at least 2020 when he and his then-girlfriend Kaia Gerber went as Elvis and Priscilla for Halloween. Already, we’re becoming obsessed with this modern interpretation of Elvis.
