It’s A New Era For R&B Singer GIOVANNA

GIOVANNA’s foundations in music came from several converging sources. At home, her Sicilian father would nurture her hunger for ’90s Pop and R&B classics, introducing her to musical pioneers such as Nelly Furtado, Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, and Gnarls Barkley to name a few. Elsewhere, she spent her freshman and sophomore years as the first and only vocalist for the University of Florida’s band. Understandably, the collective experience strengthened her self-confidence to release original music of her own.

Over the past few years, GIOVANNA has released a handful of songs via her SoundCloud. Loose records such as “Confessions” and “Get Up” give you a mouth of the songstress’ euphoric vocals, projecting her voice and presence with power and passion in equal measure. In 2020, she unveiled her debut EP aptly titled Good for Her, a three-song compilation that finds her in pursuit to push the boundaries of art. “Used To Me” featuring Casey Jones II, “Scenic Route,” and the titular track further encapsulate the starlet’s talent and haunting vocals.

Her latest single, “Deep End,” reflects the image of a young artist coming into her own, finding confidence, strength, and a newfound sense of self along the way. The Mike Snell (Teyana Taylor, Kanye West, DaniLeigh) and Luxury Lane-produced record arrived towards the tail-end of 2021, it’s amongst one of the singer’s first official releases. “Deep End” arrives alongside a visual effort that further captures the sensual and embodied vibe within her sound as GIOVANNA showcases her lyrical prowess.

There’s an unpretentious quality to GIOVANNA’s work—in its intimate portraits of her self-growth as well as the journey of love lost and found—and progression is her key intent for the time ahead. “If you know me you know it’s been a journey to get here and still is just an introduction. So much more to come next year, it’s finally go time,” she shared via Instagram. For now, she has plenty to share and with her latest string of singles, triumph is a short distance away.

Elsewhere in music, alt-pop phenomenon Leah Kate is on the rise to stardom.
