India Shan Releases Her New Song and Video “Don’t Wanna”

Today, London-based singer-songwriter India Shan unveils her latest offering, “Don’t Wanna.” Accompanied by a music video that mirrors the ethereal nature of the song, the Jake River Parker-directed cut sees soft yet vibrant hues moving across the screen.

“Don’t Wanna” arrives months removed from India’s February release of “Straight Talk,” which received a number of remixes in the months following its release. Prior to that, she shared her debut EP Inertia, a four-song project which dons fan favorites such as “Waves” and “Rear View Mirror” among others. Recently, she showcased her music in a live capacity, performing at The Great Escape, Future First at Soho House, and Roundhouse Rising with more performances slated to take place later this year.

“We made ‘Don’t Wanna’ in Raf’s old flat just before the first lockdown – the song kinda wrote itself, and quickly too. It’s about the patterns in a relationship that aren’t necessarily healthy—wanting to try and make things work but the realization that it’s not a functional place to be,” India shares in regard to the song. “I think that’s what defines a toxic relationship, when you’re fully aware it’s not right but you struggle to leave because the ups and downs are essentially addictive.”
