Hayley Kiyoko has officially announced the release of her sophomore studio album, PANORAMA, slated to release later this year on July 29th. Alongside the news, the singer unveils the project’s lead single “For The Girls.”
“Summer’s for the girls, the girls that like girls / The girls that like boys, the girls, the girls, the girls,” she croons on the song’s chorus. Elsewhere, in the second verse, she sings: “Saltwater skin, hair in the breeze / Go eat your heart out like tangerines, yeah, ooh / Let’s the break the tension, like to kick it? / Yeah, you feel that.”
PANORAMA marks Hayley’s official follow-up to her critically acclaimed and widely praised studio debut album, Expectations, in 2018. The 13-song offering, which contained a lone feature from Kehlani, introduced fans to viral songs like “Curious” and “What I Need.” Meanwhile, other songs like “Feelings” and “Sleepover” further propelled the project into stardom, whilst production was handled by the likes of The Futuristics, Jonas Jeberg, 4e, and producer duo Jack & Coke. She later released I’m Too Sensitive for This Shit in 2020, serving as her fourth EP with tracks such as “Demons” and “I Wish.”
“For The Girls” is notably Hayley Kiyoko’s first official release of the year. It arrives roughly a year removed from the singer’s song and video for “Chance,” which has since amassed over five million views on YouTube. Prior to that, she released “Found My Friends” which was also met with praise. Both of the tracks have not yet been confirmed to appear on the project, but PANORAMA is slated to drop in July alongside new, never-heard-before tracks.
