Halsey Finally Releases “So Good” Song and Video

Halsey‘s eagerly-awaited new song “So Good” is finally out today after being teased—and halted—in the weeks leading up to its release. The accompanying music video is directed by Alev Aydin and marks her first official release of the year.

Prior to the song’s release, she took to TikTok to share that she was “tired” and that her record label, Capitol Records, wouldn’t let her release this song that she loved unless it went viral on the platform. Many fans of the artist and genre assumed that this was a marketing ploy in itself used to help the song propel into popularity, although mentioned the label didn’t want to put the first version of the song out because it was slow and emotional during an Instagram Live.

“If you have the internet you have probably heard that I’ve been trying to put this song out for a long time, and I’m thrilled you’ll finally get to hear it,” she shared on Instagram. Notably, the song arrives ahead of her forthcoming live album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom (Live From Webster Hall), which will arrive in celebration of the original album’s fifth anniversary.
