Hally Hair, the Gen Z-focused haircare label, introduced the first-ever ammonia-free foam hair dye when it launched in 2020. The rising brand has since placed experimenting confidently and expressing yourself through color at the forefront.

Founded by Kathryn Winokur, who started the brand on maternity leave with her daughter, Hally Hair is fun, simple, and safe with an appeal to the younger generations. The label’s signature demi-permanent color, Color Cloud, is an easy-to-apply product that eliminates the guess, stress, and harshest chemicals of hair dye. Key ingredients include chamomile, lavender, ginseng, aloe, and a combination of other natural, nourishing extracts that gently lighten the hair up and lock in color. It’s as easy as applying the formula all over dry hair, relaxing for 30 minutes, and rinsing the formula out.

The Color Cloud washes out in roughly 4-6 weeks, coming in seven shades to pick from: “Atomic Blonde,” “Blue Crush,” “Purple Avalanche,” “Dark Mode,” “Rose Gold,” and “Code Red.” The latter of which arrives in collaboration with Disney and Pixar for their 2022 film Turning Red. Making the experience as immersive as possible, the “Code Red” hair dye features packaging that boasts the movie’s logo and main character Mei Lee, in both her human and red panda forms. The packaging also includes one pair of latex-free gloves.

Elsewhere, Hally’s Fluffy G is the ultimate in-shower hair treatment that leaves hair shiny and soft. It similarly contains chamomile extract, aloe vera extract, lavender extract, and ginseng root extract. You simply leave it on for 10 minutes and shampoo and condition for benefits like texture restoration, hydration, shine, and reduced frizz. The Fluffy G comes in three shades: “Premiere Clear,” “Brass-off Blonde,” and “Bouncy Brown.” The first iteration is a colorless shine treatment for all hair while the “Brass-off Blonde” serves as a cool neutralizer for blondes. Meanwhile, “Bouncy Brown” is a rich dimension for brunettes that revives flat hair.

The Color Cloud retails for $25 USD and the Fluffy G retails for $15 USD—both products can be purchased individually on Hally Hair’s website.
