The record begins simply with Hallie’s unmistakable voice and a guitar tune that is both delicate and haunting. The song gradually ramps up in intensity until bursting into a frantic, climactic crescendo. While “Do It” is unquestionably and pleasantly pop, they provide a special sensitivity and depth that makes for a pleasurable and meaningful listening experience.
“I wrote ‘Do it’ about trying to get into the swing of dating again and the child-like nerves of flirting. I was experiencing loneliness while simultaneously wanting to explore my sexuality and make new connections,” they shared regarding the release. “I find that stage just as exciting as it is scary and confronting and this song is me being honest with how I was feeling and giving myself a push toward exploring those crushes.”
Clocking in just over three minutes, “Do It” was directed by Hallie and Lili Pedrazzini. The visual, which is lit up in a spectrum of neon and fluorescent colors, illustrates the highs and lows of a budding romantic relationship. Watch it below.
