Ellie Goulding makes her long-awaited return with the release of “Easy Lover” featuring Big Sean. Produced by multi-platinum songwriter and producer Greg Kurstin, the song serves as the lead single to Goulding’s forthcoming fifth studio album.

In Ellie’s verse, she gracefully sings, “It was never easy, lover / When you’ve given all you had to each other / And then every time, it’s harder to recover. The singer continues across the pre-chorus and chorus, further delving into the record’s romantic themes. Meanwhile, Big Sean raps, “Time gon’ pass but all of these feelings hadn’t / You know that life that we pictured, I still imagine it / A whole city in between us and we still attached.”

“Easy Lover” is a full circle moment for both Ellie Goulding and Big Sean, marking their first direct collaboration since 2014. The pair originally came together on “You Don’t Know” from the Detroit rapper’s Hall of Fame (Deluxe) album. Prior to that, Goulding provided background vocals to his three-times multi-platinum song “Beware” featuring Lil Wayne and Jhene Aiko. That particular track peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
