Men’s luxury label dunhill unveils its “Rollagas” collection for Fall/Winter 2022. The aforementioned draws inspiration from the company’s rich history in lightweight manufacturing.
Before its formal introduction in 1956, the brand’s Rollagas lighter made its debut in limited quantities in 1953. Unique characteristics of its form and function make it easily recognizable. An eternal motif that has served as a source of creative inspiration for the House throughout its existence.
Top handle bags, messenger bags, and wallets in black and grey embossed calfskin make up the range, with additional items due to arrive in August. They serve as a modest and up-to-date look into the history of the brand’s lighter and leather. “Reimagining the patterned surface of 1970s Rollagas lighter, one of dunhill’s most iconic styles, the geometric design is applied to ready-to-wear, leather goods, and other accessories,” it shares. “A collision of modernity and tradition, signature products incorporate this tubular texture through quilting, leather craft, and engraving techniques.”
Technical Rollagas padded fabric is used to make outerwear such as a vehicle coat, blouson, and gilet that is reminiscent of the archival lighter pattern. Lock Clip backpacks and messengers, made of quilted calfskin with metal snaps, are examples of the House’s mastery of leather accessories that further emphasize this theme.
