Announced less than 24 hours from its release, DJ Drama and Dreamville present their surprise project D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape. The project, which is comprised of 15 tracks, boasts verses from core label members J. Cole, Bas, Cozz, Omen, Lute, Ari Lennox, JID, Lute, and EARTHGANG.
Elsewhere, the star-studded tracklist features Sheck Wes, 2 Chainz, Young Nudy, A$AP Ferg, G Perico, Kenny Mason, and REASON. Among the several standout cuts, Dreamville comes together on tracks like “Starting 5,” “Jozi Flows,” and the opening track “Stick.”
D-Day is Dreamville’s first official project since 2019’s massive compilation and third installment of their mixtape series, Revenge of the Dreamers III. The project debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, moving 115,000 album-equivalent units during the week of its release. Furthermore, it was also certified platinum by the RIAA a year following its release, giving 15 rappers their first Platinum plaques. A deluxe was released in 2020 with 12 new tracks to celebrate its one-year anniversary. Elsewhere, the core members of the J. Cole-headed record label have dropped singles and projects since then, including Cozz and EARTHGANG.
DJ Drama, on the other hand, has remained relatively busy with his collaborative project with Jim Jones dropping this past January. Prior to that, he hosted QC rapper Lakeyah’s 2021 project My Time and Tyler, the Creator’s critically-acclaimed Call Me If You Get Lost.
