dodie has shared the news that her new EP, Hot Mess, will be out on September 30. After releasing “Got Weird,” the first single from the project, she now offers the title track, an introspective look into the mayhem of the musician’s life, along with a bright lyric video.

“’Hot Mess’ is the result of the messiest, most intense, painful, and exhilarating start to the year. It’s a wonky, dramatic but playful cycle, charging forward but around and around, again and again,” she says. “There are flickers of real moments—I really did dry heave after reading a text—in an overall desperate plea to find a way out that in no way is going to come from me!”

Hot Mess is the follow-up EP to dodie’s 2021 debut album Build A Problem, which peaked at #3 on the Official UK Album Charts and explored the messy, chaotic, and wonderful complexity of life. She embarked on a tour of the United Kingdom and North America in late 2021 and early 2022, performing to sold-out crowds at both the Ace Hotels in Los Angeles and the Kings Theatre in New York, with the UK leg concluding with a successful event at London’s Eventim Apollo.
