Coming off the heels of a colossal year, City Girls join forces with New York rap star Fivio Foreign for their first-ever collaboration and new single “Top Notch.” Serving as their first record of 2022, the single signals a new era for the rap duo and hints at the release of their third studio album anticipated to drop before the year comes to a close.
The song, as hinted by the feature, sees the rap ladies skate over a drill-laden beat as they warn their detractors, flex on haters, rap about jewelry, and more. “Bitch, I was really broke, fuck I look like tryna go and diss? (Fuck I look like?) / Fuck I look like sendin’ shots and not makin’ every hit? (Huh?),” Yung Miami raps.
“Top Notch” arrives on the heels of their massive smash hit “Twerkulator,” which debuted at #51 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the month of June 2021. The song was originally slated to appear on their second studio album, however, got leaked and was ultimately left off. Now, with millions of streams and an RIAA-certified Gold plaque later, the record stands as one of their biggest works to date among several other songs. Elsewhere, City Girls joined Summer Walk for their collaborative single “Ex For A Reason” and appeared on the Netflix original soundtrack for Bruised with their track “Scared.”
