NYC-based designer Chet Lo is among one of this generation’s most exciting names to watch. Having launched his eponymous label amid the pandemic, the creative has become known for the endless possibilities and innovation that he explores through knitwear. Lo’s designs have been worn by the likes of Kylie Jenner, Doja Cat, SZA, Chloe Cherry, Christina Aguilera, Coi Leray, and more.
A Central Saint Martins graduate, Lo debuted his graduate collection “Cindiaria’s Wife” in 2020, pulling inspiration from his love of futurism with classic feminine silhouettes. Lava La Rule, Raveena, and Chi Virgo are some of the notable names to wear the label during its first year. Keeping his Asian heritage and Western aesthetics, the 26-year-old’s signature knit texture is unquestionably what draws celebrities and designers alike to his creations, accenting 3-D spiked fabric reminiscent of durian fruit. Comprised of materials like nylon, these translucent fabrics are often accompanied by lycra or polyester lining.
Chet Lo’s SS22 collection, titled “Splash,” pays homage to paradisal holidays with bright hues reminiscent of tropical sunsets, the ocean, and sunrise. The range is comprised of tights, bikinis, tracksuits, skirts, dresses, turtlenecks, and cardigans to name a few pieces. Standout garments include the Sunset Gradient Dress, which dons a gradient of magenta and yellow. Other pieces like the Tropicana Top and Skirt, as well as the Davine Halter Top are must grabs from the designer. To complete the collection, the label’s Spiky Bag comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large in an array of marvelous colors that seamlessly grade into one another.
“Splash takes inspiration from the beauty of holiday life, the fluorescent drinks that always taste better on the beach, and the mystical romance found in the 1984 film of the same name,” the designer shares. “Unabashed sexuality and a futuristic take on knitwear are on full display. After a year of seldom celebration and play, this collection offers the pieces we will wear out again as we make up for lost time.”
Earlier this year, Chet Lo was named among Forbes’ Europe 30 Under 30 list, which further cements the designer’s presence as a major force within the fashion industry. He joins Lexxola founder Zane Saleh and Saks Potts founders Barbara Potts and Cathrine Saks to name a few. Shop the eponymous label’s “Splash” collection via the Chet Lo website as well as partnering retailers such as SSENSE and Selfridges.
