Beloved genre-bending artist Charmaine returns with her latest video, “Double Dutch.” The fan-favorite appears on her debut EP, Hood Avant-Grande, alongside stellar tracks such as “Bold” and “Woo!”
On the making of the video, she shares, “[It] was amazing! I had such a blast but that’s normal for us, it’s always a vibe on set! I want them to understand that the only competition they have in life is themselves and you should always do your best to outdo yourself.”
The Spencer Edwards directed clip sees Charmaine flaunt culture and couture, showcasing her take on the modern-day renaissance woman she first introduced on her debut single. It clocks in just under four minutes and opens with the Toronto-native discovering a moving portrait of herself. As the title hints, there’s a good bit of choreography which fans alike will enjoy and not to mention, she draws inspiration from Missy Elliot, who she previously cited as a favorite growing up.
“If you want beef they gon’ serve you a plate / Girl what? Man you know you plant-based,” she raps. Check out the video below!
